What do the lock & unlock wires do in EVOGMT3 standalone?

I'm reviewing the Install C for the EVOGMt3 and see it's calling for lock & unlock wire connections to the BCM for non-OnStar vehicles.   If the customer is going to be using his OEM remotes, what do these connections accomplish?   The only thing I can think of is that it's a work-around for the OEM keyless system shutting down while the vehicle is running....please advise

You don't need the connections if using the OEM remote.

The connections are in the stand alone connection in case you were to also install an RF-KIT.
