My EX-One Remote doesn't work anymore

I bought and had Model #FTX-64-2W installed in my Toyota Highlander by a dealer and up until today the remote simply doesn't work.  No lights, no sounds, nothing.  It's as if the battery inside the remote has died.  Is there a procedure to open it up and replace the battery?  I don't want to pry it open and break it in the process.

There a 2 little screws on the button you must undo, then remove the silver piece that attaches to the key ring.

Then with a small flat blade screw driver simply pop the casings apart to gain access to the circuit board/batteries.
