Help with Omega RF install

Question

I bought two of these.  One for an EVO-ONE, one for EVO-ALL.  I managed to get the EVO-ONE working on a 2020 Hyundai Kona.  I cannot get it  to work on EVO-ALL with multiple vehicles (2010 Ford Fusion, 7.71.52 and 2014 Chrysler Town and Country, 7.58.01)

The instructions both in the box and on the Fortin website did not work.  Here is what I figured out to get the antenna into pairing mode:

Unplug antenna if you already connected it

Unplug data link (black connector) from EVO-ALL

Hold programming button

Insert data link

Release button when lights are blue and red

Connect antenna (On this antenna, it flashes once.  If I hook up the antenna from the EVO-ONE install, it flashes 6 times)

Ignition on

Ignition off

Ignition on

Antenna is lit up solid

Within 5ish seconds, press the brake pedal 4 times (antenna should flash with each press)

After the 4th press, it should be flashing rapidly

At this point I was hoping I could program the remotes but they still did not respond.

So far, when I asked Omega support they responded with "Was the evo-all set for Omegalink/Crimstopper rf kit and did the box for the olrf15sst have the white label stating it was compatible?" which is Yes and Yes.  They then followed up with "Just the RF kit protocol and the adapter should be fine. Try holding the start button for 3-5 seconds when you program it."

I get the same behavior with either their adapter or the RF-A2A

Any other ideas from Fortin?  Hopefully my new steps will help.  I reached out to Omega also for clarification about the antenna blinks


EDIT: Omega has been more responsive but no luck so far.  I did try updating the firmware on the Chrysler to 7.74.39 with no luck.  I flashed back to 7.58.02.  Now I no longer get 1 blink when I plug in the antenna in any scenario, only 6 blinks.  (5 blinks is a 1 way antenna, 6 blinks is 2-way according to Omega).  I also am no longer able to replicate my steps above because of this.  One thing is they were not sure if the antenna is supposed to light up when programming an EVO-ALL.  It sometimes does for the EVO-ONE.

The pairing for evo-all is

 

1. Press and hold programming button while inserting data connector
2. Release when leds are red and blue
3. Press and hold the programming button, wait for red and blue leds to turn off then back on. Release programming button when they turn back on.
4. Turn ignition on , all 3 leds on the evo should be on at this point.
5. Antenna should be flashing rapidly at this point
6. Press whichever button suggested by omega. The red and blue led will blink once to confirm pairing.

I can get through step 4.  The antenna does not rapidly flash though.

I'm going to try more on Friday.  If anyone would happen to be able to test this with an Omega SST before then, I would appreciate it.  Maybe post a video on YouTube or something.  Maybe I can post a YouTube video.

More thoughts:

1. I assume the other wires can stay plugged in to the EVO-ALL while I unplug/replug the data link connector in Step 1?
2. I also assume you can change RF kits without any issues.  I initially did not have the H option turned on when I installed it but went in and changed it.  I would assume the change to H3 should take and should not require a master reset.
3. I'm not by it right now, but I think there was a video in FlashLink that talks about installing Omega RF kits.  It's set to Private though so I can't view it.  Maybe it applies to the old Omega RF kits or something?

I tried a few other things but was never able to get the Omega RF kit to work with the EVO-ALL.  I'll keep the second one to use with another EVO-ONE.  If anyone is wanting to get one of these to install on an EVO-ALL, myself and someone else have had issues.

As a test, I bought a REVO 1.1 since that uses the same setting in the EVO-ALL.  I hooked it up and followed the above process.  It connected successfully.  In light of this, I reached out to Omega again.

I bought a REVO1.1 as a test.  Followed the same directions as I was with the OL-RF-15-SST and I was able to pair it properly.  I tried pairing the Omega again to see if I could get the antenna to light up after turning the car on using different combinations of antenna wires and adapters.  But I was still unsuccessful.

 

If the Omega and Revo use the same protocol, I'm at a loss here as to what the issue could be.  Any other thoughts or ideas?

The REVO kits and OL-RF kits do use the same setting in the EVO unit but the protocols are different. The remote programming process is determine by the host data start unit and the LED functions after initial power up are also determined by the data start unit, in this case the EVO unit. You can contact Fortin for some insight into what the LED should do during remote programming or send the OL-RF kit to our warranty facility for evaluation and any needed repairs.  

Any other ideas or thoughts to try?  If it works with the EVO-ONE but not the EVO-ALL, I'm starting to lean towards a configuration issue on the EVO-ALL

What a pain these Omega RF kits are.  I had it working with an EVO-ONE, unplugged the antenna wire to move it around, plug it back in, and now it doesn't work again.  Buyer beware if anyone is trying to make these work with Fortin boxes.

I had the same problem hooking omegas rf kit to Evo all with thar4 T-Harness. I can’t flash it to omega/crime stopper cause I already have Car link up and running flashed to start2. I did get the omega link fob to lock/unlock and start by watching  YouTube vids about adding a phone app. To start I only hooked up the antenna cable to the blue t harnass female connector specifically for Fortin kits and that’s it, no hooking up the main cable comes with it’s just power and the blue connector has the +\- power supply with the blue and white,  it didn’t want to program correctly and didn’t want to stay locked but it did start it. I understand the RFA2A cable helps in this area, or adding a 1amp diode to the white going to the antenna but I didn’t get that far too much time already invested…..good luck
