2014 Dodge Grand Caravan - Not Programming

0 votes
Could you please verify if the 2014 Grand Caravan will actually work with the EVO-ALL as stand alone remote starter? We have done two of the 2012 model last year and it worked great.

We have tried installing it into a 2014 model this weekend and the EVO-ALL will not program at all (when we put the key on ign, the blue led will turn off - no flashing - and it'll turn back on when we pull the key out, thats it).

Triple checked my wiring (i mean there were only about 5 - 6 wires needed to be hooked up into the ignition harness; made sure that the CAN Low and CAN High were right colors and were not reversed) and also tried two different EVO-ALL modules and harnesses The service # of the first EVO-ALL we have used is 001A06 349006 and I could give you the second one if needed

Please assist and verify if it actually is compatible on the 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. I have set up a time to go into the customer's workplace and try this again today.

Thanks

Hi Grease Monkey,

Works fine on the 2014. The LED sequence you mentionned while programming means the EVO is not detecting anything on the Can wires.

First easy thing to do is master reset the unit. Keep in mind that this will reset also reset all your options back to default setting.

  1. Hold down programming button while plugging in datalink connector.
  2. Let go of button when LED is RED.
  3. Push and hold button again until all three LEDs start to alternate.
  4. Disconnect unit, she is now reset.

Second, the voltage on the Can wires whould be at about 2.5 Vdc each

Third, look at the actual pin out on the 5-pin white connector of the EVO. I've seen one harness that the pins were not in the proper slots. On the second page of the non-tharness guide, you can see what the pinouts should look like. EVO-ALL & Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep (WIN, No T-Harness) - Revision 20130605

Fourth, try a lower firmware such as 74.17 and let me know if this is what fixed it.

Im posting an update just now..

The EVO ALL worked in the end!

First is that I found out that the CAN wire colors for this vehicle is reversed on the install guide. This is a lesson for us to go also verify the connector pin number as well.

Second is that I had to use options D2 "Unlock before/Lock after" instead of D1.1 "Lock-Unlock-Lock" (could someone explain what the difference on both options and when should it be used?)

Both options are completely different in what they do.:

  • The D2 option is used when a vehicle has a factory alarm and the only way to disarm the alarm before remote start is to unlock the doors. Option D2 will unlock the doors before remote starting and then relock the doors after it started.
  • D1.1 is used to change the regular "Press 3x LOCK" sequence when using stand alone remote start. So instead of having to press lock 3x, you would need to press lock-unlock-lock. This is also used in cases that the vehicle Can network does not reply to the EVO fast enough when wanting to use 3x Lock; in this case, you would need to use lock-unlock-lock.

As for the Can wires, thanks for the heads up. I will send a request to get this looked at ASAP.

More info on the options can be found in the Help menu of the flash link manager. It should load you a pdf. https://fortin.ca/download/16141/
