2012 Nissan Maxima EVO ALL Standalone

0 votes
I will be installing the EVO all stand alone with the Nissan Harness. I recently did the same install on my infiniti G37 no problem. I am assuming this will be the same setup. However the 5 wires I wired to the BCM on my G37 were at the passanger kick. Where is the BCM in a 2012 Maxima, is it behind the cluster? If so how difficult is this to get at? Any help would be appreciated.

Some of them have anti-theft one-way screws that are hard to remove to have access to the connector on the bcm. I personnaly go from under the dash to reach the green connector on the bcm. Not as easy as G37.

Is the connector easily accessible from under?
I've seen worst, the cluster itself is super easy to remove you just unclip the bezel around it and remove 3 phillips screws that hold the cluster. I'd start to try this way first.

From under you put your head where the pedals are and look completly up until you see a green connector.

On a standalone installation you really don't need the unlock connection. The lock is not mandatory it's only used to relock the doors after the 15 minutes runtime. The doorpin connection can be taken directly at the doorpin easily...
According to the documents on the fortin website for standalone connections, page 1 shows passenger kick (Altima behind cluster). Which is right, passenger kick or behind cluster?
There is a guy on the infiniti forum who just installed an EVO all with the harness and he mentions a few items that has me puzzled.

1)  He did not hook up a seperate 12V for power to the module, how is it getting power?

2)  He did not hook up lock and unlock, but says after shutdown the car is locked.

Any insight would be appreciated.
The T-harness actually gets power from somewhere. Either at the OBD or brake connector. Lock and unlock are not required. You only absolutely need atleast the lock connection if the car unlocks when ignition turns off (by normal start or remote start).
