When i search by vehicle for a 2010 corolla G key it brings up guide #8871 which lists the 2012-2013 corolla, will this also work on 2010 corolla? or is there a mistake on the site?

Same install as long as it's actually a G-key (should be a G on all the keys).

If your key have a dot on the key blade the correct guide is 22971
It is a 80 bit G key, i just wanted to make sure as one of the competitors lists the IMI/IMO method for the 2010/11 80 bit corolla and this looks much more attractive
Sure it is much easier than IMI/IMO, make sure you use the latest firmware.
That's because IMI and IMO works on both 40-bit and 80-bit G-Key. In 2010, some had the G key while others didn't. If a car that was normally 40 bit were to get a new key today at the dealer, the dealer can actually program a G-Key to it and put in the 40 bit encryption. So your key would say G-KEY, but it's actually a 40-bit encryption.

The new connection IMMO Data at the OBD-II is much easier but only works on a 80 bit G-KEY.
