2011 G37 sedan automatic

I will be buying the Stand Alone EVO ALL system. I do not need anything else, no remote starter or anything?  Just wire up the Stand Alone EVO all and it should be all set?

Hi Sam,

 

That is correct, the only module you would have to install is the EVO-ALL. Installing a hood pin and/or valet switch for the safety of those working on your engine is also strongly recommended.

 

You will want to take some little pointers into consideration.

 

  1. There is a minimum firmware requirement which is firmware 4.18. Currently we ship the EVO-ALL units with firmware 4.18 already loaded on it to our direct distributeurs.
  2. The EVO-ALL does not come with the Stand Alone feature activated. This needs to be done using the Flash-Link Updater.

I cannot tell from the documentation extact what wires I need to connect to be able to remote start the car, can you tell me?  I imagine the can wires can pretty much do it all.  I am just trying to find detials so I know what wires need to be connected and where.

Connection 1 in this install guide: STAND ALONE EVO-ALL & Nissan/Infiniti - Revision 20130604

 

Wires you do not need to connect from the 20-Pin white connector:

  • purple (A2) and purple/white (A3)
  • yellow/black (13)
  • pink/black (A15) - not a requirement for remote starting but would shut down your auto lights if you have the auto lights set to On in the vehicle.

 

The rest of the connections are required.

 

You will also want to install a 15 Amp fuse on the power line nearest to where you actually make the connection. (look at where it's connected on connection 2, you want it at the same spot)

What about wires B1 and B2, are those needed to connect somewhere?  On A15, for the auto lights, what do I connect that to, what wire on the vehicle?

So only 2 wires, A4 and A5 need to be run to the passenger side to the BCM?
B1 and B2 are not required

A15 goes to the driver door pin wire. the information is on wirecolor.

A4 and A5 are the only connections going to the BCM.
Does this have a time it will run for and then time out?  If I press lock 3x to start and shortly after I want to turn it off, will pressing lock 3x turn it off? Do wires A4 and A5 already have pins soldered to them to install into the BCM connector? Drivers door pin according to wirecolor is RED at the BCM, so A145 also needs to go to the BCM, correct?

By default the EVO is set to run for 15 minutes. This can be changed in the EVO options using the Flash-Link Updater (3 min and 7 min options available).

You can also stop the vehicle using 3x Lock.

For A4 and A5, normally there would not be any wires in the pin locations. You would need to add the pins.

You can find the Driver Door Pin at the BCM, correct.

It's a (-)trigger input to start/stop the vehicle from another source.

Correct. The parking light wire in this vehicle is a positive signal though. The EVO gives a negative signal. A relay would be required to change the polarity from (-) to (+).

 

So I assume A13 then is not needed.  The car does not have a negative parking lights anywhere?

The only available connection is with a positive signal.

This connection is only required where their are laws that require the lights to be on while the vehicle is sitting at idle.  Your autolights would propably come on anyway but i cannot confirm this.

For this vehicle, the EVO needs to see foot brake status, tach, door status on the CAN along with some other data to start the vehicle and offer security so someone cannot just get in the car and leave. In the case someone installs another module such as an alarm, he would also get hood/trunk status, trunk release etc...

The CAN is providing all the statuses yes. But the EVO cannot send a command through the CAN to lock/unlock your doors (for this car) or trigger a door to think it's opened.
No where in the documentation for connection 1 does it say where I need to use the diode, can you tell me where I need to make that connection?
You don't need the diode for stand alone installations.  I realize it says "1x Diode" in the required parts section but it is not the case for stand alone installations.
15 Amp fuse on the 12vdc wire is needed for standalone installation? Documentation does not show that either on connection 1.
You can install the fuse just like it's installed in connection 2.

If I wire the door pin for the auto headlights, will it shut down auto headlights if I decide to cancel the remote start after few minutes, even if the door was never opened?
Yes, the vehicle will think the door opened. Some vehicles the lights don't actually turn off right away, it takes about 1-5 mins.
I will assume the EVO out for door pin is a negative output and the door trigger at the BCM is negative output.
The output on the EVO is negative.

Don't assume anything on the vehicle. Use a multimeter and/or logic test light before doing any connections. Their are many wires and connectors that look the same.
There seems to be a problem.  I have connected everything and programmed the unit. I turned options 15 and 18 on. Flashed it.  Sometimes it says no key light inside the car and I cannot get the car to start.  The connection at the push button, brown pin 4 make the fortin go crazy when connected to the white with back wire.  It proves power to the push button without pressing anything and if i try to press the button to start the car manually the button does nothing.  Is there a step I am missing?  What are the exact settings/options I need to set inside the fortin?  The fortin is setup as a bypass with the flash manager. Do I set it as remote start, if so what are the options I need to set.  I am thinking the fortin is sending the wrong signal out.
With no connection made, wire A19 white/black (input type) always sending ground out.  Why?

There seems to be a problem.  I have connected everything and programmed the unit. I turned options 15 and 18 on.

You only need to turn option 15 on. (and leave all the factory settings on)

Only turn on option 18 if the car is hybrid. Do not turn on if you car is not hybrid.

I also hope a relay was used for parking lights.

 

First, Reset the unit to factory settings (in the car):

  1. Hold down programming button while plugging in datalink connector.
  2. Let go of button when LED is RED.
  3. Push and hold button again until all three LEDs start to alternate.
  4. Disconnect unit, she is now reset.

 

Second, Reprogram the EVO in the vehicle. Then go turn Option 15 On, click Save. (not Flash).

 

 

 

Thank you, I will try that later tonight.  Could that cause A19 to be doing weird things?  I am just trying to narrow down what would cause this.  So turn on only option 15 not 18.  What about all the other options, will they go to default after the reset?
A relay was used, parking lights do come on. The car just does not start.

Yes, No  and Maybe :)

What version should it be flashed with, 4.18 or the current new one?

4.18 or the latest one would work. Just don't program in the vehicle and after change the firmware. First, change firmware, then program in car.

Ok Update firmware, program in car, then plug back into laptop and set option 15 to ON.  I will do that later today and report back.  If it still does the same, what should I look for next?

It will work fine.

You may want to disconnect unecessary wires temporarily.

Ok sounds great, thank you.  How the EVO know I am trying to use it as a remote starter for and Infiniti G37, from the programming that is done in the car?  Or from the flash manager?

Just wanted to add...

  • The RED LED will turn on when the EVO is active (in operation).
  • The YELLOW LED will turn ON with ignition.
  • The BLUE LED when theEVO receives / sends data.

The EVO learns it's a specific car during the in car programming procedure.

The unit will not reset, red light stays on.

The EVO has to be completely disconnected and also do not try to reset the module using the Flash-Link module connector, do the reset in the car.

 

After releasing on RED, push and Hold button again until all the LEDs start to alternate.

I have tried several times, it will not reset.
It's a basic reset procedure. The only thing that could prevent it from working would be that the firmware was not properly loaded into the EVO.

 I can only recommend now, as stated in our guides, to get the system installed by a certified technician.
I have installed many remote starters in the past, more than capable. I was even on the phone with Fortin last night and the guy said the unit is most likely defective if it will not reset.  The unit is capable of being flashed but it will not reset according to the procedure.

You should reconnect the Tx wire while you wait for the new EVO.

I reconnected the wire for the TX connection.  The key light is still there when I start the car. Any ideas?
Ok light has gone away. Disconnected the battery for 30 minutes. I will report back when the new EVO ALL comes in.
Ok the new EVO ALL came and I programmed it and installed it. It works great.  3x lock and it starts, 3x lock again and it stops it.  Thank you greatly for your help, I knew what I was doing was correct, I suspected the old EVO was defective.

One question I have is when I remote start the car and it times out (set to 15 min) or if I stop it, the car unlocks.  Is there anyway I can make it lock on shutdown?
