EVO-ONE - Worked fine for about two weeks - Then no longer sends gnd outputs

0 votes
Installed EVO-ONE in a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek PTS.  Worked fine for a couple of weeks then noticed that unit no longer honked the horn nor flashed the park lights - all (-) outputs and connected as per installation guide.  Swapped out with another module and everything is fine again and has been a couple of weeks since replaced and no further issues.

Took the malfunctioning unit and tried it on another vehicle to test - a 2012 Toyota Tundra.  Unit flashes and programs fine but will still not send (-) to flash parklights or honk the horn.  Also, it will not detect the brake input to allow the programming of a Fortin 2-way RF Kit.  Tried it several times with no luck.

I think the unit went bad somehow but if there is anything else I can try, please let me know.

Thanks,

Chad

If you take a multi meter and test the outputs do they work? Perhaps it was a grounding issue...?

They are rated for 750 Ma. If this was exceeded it may have damaged the outputs.

Well, not likely a grounding issue as the I swapped it the EVO-ONE with another one I had on hand and everything is working fine in my Crosstrek.  Even tried swapping it back and it exhibited the same issue.  Then, as a final test, I reflashed it and swapped into a Toyota Tundra and it is still malfunctioning.  I did put a meter on the outputs and I am getting an open.  I know the outputs are not rated for anything high current, but they were connected to the (-) triggers for the horn and park lights as per WireColor and the new replacement unit is functioning fine after 3 weeks now.
