2011 VW Tiguan Install Option Clarification

0 votes

Asking this second question in a new thread since it is specific to install guide content.  It appears when I search for a 2011 VW Tiguan install options, that the one for an EV)-ALL with the VW2 harness AND a TB-VW pulls up the install guide for a 2012 and up VW Tiguan.  Is this guide actually applicable to a 2011 VW TIG, or is this a linking error?  It also makes me question if the VW2 harness is correct for a 2011 VW TIG vs the older VW1 iteration?

Thanks for the support!

Typo in the guide.

The THAR-VW2 harness fits on the 2010 to 2018 Tiguan:. https://fortin.ca/en/products/t-harnesses/thar-vw2/vehicles.html

The THAR-VW1 is for select Push button start vehicles: https://fortin.ca/en/products/t-harnesses/thar-vw1/vehicles.html

Keep in mind though, you have a 2011 Push-to-Start from your other post?

Thanks Robb! Are you implying since my US based 2011 VW Tiguan has factory PTS, that trying a VW1 harness designed for 2014+ TIGs would be the way to go?  Eg) follow the 2014 PTS install guide for a stand alone option with harness and TB-VW on a 2011 VW TIG with PTS?

Seems like a leap of faith, but maybe you have seen this before?  BTW... it is the SEL with Dynaudio option that added the PTS back in 2011.  I called the dealer on that one, and he did state he did not think that this was ever a Canda option until later.  Interesting.  Like my vehicle was the lab rat to confirm the tech worked.

Definitly not saying to try a 2014 solution on a 2011. If you do, it's at your own risk. A t-harness may not even be compatible (vw1 or vw3). Aside from that, being able to to do key bypass without sacrificing a key was never even tested considering the car does not exist here.

Best would be to bring it to a local installer to see what they have available.

Correct. Neither Fortin or ADS even list a Push button start 2011 Tiguan.
