Evo-start2 smartphone use in US

Question

I have purchased a 2018 CX-9 and I'm going to add the EVO-ONE to the vehicle. I'm looking at adding the start2 as well. How does that work in the US, do I need a sim card and cell plan for it? Are there any additional fees?

In the US you could use the MyCar or the smart start dsm 550.
