Power source for the auto start

0 votes

I have been unsuccessful on getting the Fortin autostart to program or work.  For some reason, while hooked up, the module doesn't have a constant, always on power source and doesn't turn on until the key is inserted and turned into the On/Run position. I have checked all of my fuses and I can't find any issues.  I have a few extra fuse locations in my truck, so can I splice a new hot wire into the red, hot wire to provide a constant power source, or will that cause problems with the ignition?  What amp fuse do I need to do this?

Power is coming from the tharness, look for voltage on the red wire in the small 4 pin black connector.

Hi, thanks for your response.  I know that the red wire on the 4-pin harness is supposed to power the module, but in my case it doesn't.  Either because there is an issue with the harness(I have checked the harness out and all looks good) or there is an issue with my truck(All fuses are accounted for and working).  My question was, can I splice a new wire, from a separate power source, into the 4-pin red wire as an alternate source to power the module? Or does the power have to come from wherever the red wire is connected to?
