2008 G37 Wont Start on 3x Lock on Standalone Configuration

+1 vote
I have tried 2 different EVO ALL modules and re checked all my (soldered) wiring. Vehicle won't remote start upon pressing 3x Lock but it will start when the external input (yellow/black wire) is momentarily grounded.

Did I miss anything?

That would normally mean the door locks are not detected through the Can-Bus. When doing lock or unlock you shoudl be seeing the Blue LED on the EVO flicker when lock is detected.

Could this be a firmware issue? I have flashed it with the recommended one that is listed on the Flash Manager. I'm not using a T-Harness and I'm using connection 1 of guide # 8441

Yes, I don't see any LED light up on the EVO ALL when the lock or unlock on the oem remote is pressed.

Also the vehicle has a factory alarm and I have the unlock and lock (green and white wires) from the EVO ALL connected to the BCM (green connector) empty pins (pin 15 and pin 37). I have tested its function by momentarily grounding the lock/unlock external input control (purple and purple/white wires) of the EVO ALL - blue LED flashes as the vehicle locks or unlocks

Please respond to me with solutions asap before I can call the customer back

Unfortunately its possible on the 2007-2008 that the door locks can't be detected through Can. It's rare on North American models, but we have seen it more than often on the Europeen market.

I'll ask to change the listing for this like we did for the 2007-2008 Altima.

Metra has a nice little tool for times like these that would convert an X amount of pulse to a Y amount of pulses.

The LED will flash when it receives commands through Can or through the hardwired inputs such as the purple and purple/white. Unfortunately we can't do remote start by sending 3x negative pulse on the Purple input.

Thats unfortunate, I sold the customer into the whole "no extra remote needed system"... but is there another firmare version I could flash the module with that I could give a shot before we install an aftermarket remote starter with the EVO ALL?

As I have mentioned on my last comment, I have used the lastest recommended one that is listed on the Flash Manager (version 72.xx). Should I use the generic version 4.18?

Lastly, if i decided to use the Axxess Custom Trigger (or a PAC TR-7) how would you recommend this to be connected/triggered by the EVO-ALL (I can think of one way using the factory door lock motor signal)

If you want to try older firmwares do not go lower then 4.18. Stand alone did not exist before that. I honestly doubt lowering the firmware will change anything though, but it will take 3 minutes to test out if you want.

If the lock/arm wire at the BCM gives you a signal on lock press from the OEM fob, I would use that to trigger the Axxess piece. If not, then the (+) door lock signal would be the only other way to trigger it.

I had the same problem  with 07 G35x PTS. The tech support wasted my time and asked me to hook up the lock/unlock and dr door pin for nothing. After wasting more time flashing few times and lowering the firmware, and replacing the module, i got nothing. And the tech advice was to add an RF kit. Well, the customer doesnt like that, he insisted to have it on the key.

Anyway, i did another 07 G35 PTS using AL-CA "iData" and it worked. I guess i have to do the same for this customer.

door lock detection has nothing to do with physical connections. It's all through Can-Bus. When a module can detect door locks, the blue led on the EVO-ALL will flash.

  • the 2007-2008 G35 do not have door lock commands on the vehicles Can. (some 2008, maybe later year build may have Can commands for lock-unlock)

iData does not do that feature on those vehicles and it clearly says it in their installation guide.

Adding the METRA TRIGGER when door locks cannot be detected on the Can will work perfectly fine. http://www.metraonline.com/part/TRIGGER

  • Connect vehicles lock wire to Metra Trigger.
  • Program Metra Trigger to take 3 pulses on the input, and shoot out 1 pulse
  • Connect Metra TRigger to external trigger input on EVO
  • BLAM! done.,
